Many people inquire about the best restaurants. Here's some tips!
Hoskins Restaurant on Main Street in Ocean Drive; or The Seafood Hut, in Calabash on the left after turning right at the stoplight. These are the best bets for local fried seafood and oyster roasts. Want it broiled or grilled? Go to Red Lobster instead. :-)
Things don't change much when it comes to the best steaks and prime rib. Try Greg Normans at Barefoot Landing, Joe's Bar & Grill behind Olive Garden near Barefoot on the left, Flamingo's Grill at 71st Ave North in Myrtle Beach, and Barons at the Galleria Shopping Center at Lake Arrowhead Rd. Outback is only about 2 miles from us heading back over the bridge on the right, as well.
Those of you from North Carolina may be familiar with Sir Pizza from High Point, Asheboro, and Siler City. Well, we have one here now, in Windy Hill at the Bi-Lo shopping center. As far as we know, there is NO better pizza on the planet than Sir Pizza! They use provolone cheese instead of the cheaper mozarella cheese, and a crispy crust that is soooo good! If you want pizza, you must try it! They have an all you can eat buffet for $8.95 or you can order a small pizza and salad for about $8, too.
For SUSHI, you can't beat the 39th Ave Bar & Grill right across the street from Bi-Lo. Try the Volcano Roll. You will be hooked for life! The same people own Filet's Steaks and Sushi, near the stoplight and the Swing Bridge on Sea Mountain Hwy. We like the sushi atmosphere and prices at 39th Ave, although Filet's is on the water with an outdoor deck and has pretty good steaks, too!
Besides the usual pizza places, we have a local Italian/Greek restaurant nearby called Little River House of Pizza that has good sandwiches, Greek salads, calzones, pasta, and of course, pizza. They have a website at LittleRiverHouseofPizza.com with a menu and deliver until around 9:30pm. Phone is 843-280-0772.
About 5 miles north on Highway 9 there is a little place tucked back on the left that has a HUGE home-cooked country buffet on most days. It includes 4-5 meats like chicken and dumplings, country style steak, and fried chicken...plus a selection of good veggies, and salad makings for about $7. Can't beat it if you are craving some home cooking! The name of the place is Big E's. It's kind of hard to see, but well worth the short drive!
The Brentwood Restaurant, just north of us in Little River on the left offers excellent 5-star French cuisine. Visit their website at The Brentwood
The Parson's Table is just north of us on the right. They have excellent steaks and lowcountry dining.
The Webmaster recommends you visit the websites for all the chains such as Outback, Red Lobster, Bonefish, etc. Sign up for their newsletter and they will constantly send you valuable coupons and discounts, as well as birthday gift cards.
As of February 2012, the entire city of North Myrtle Beach has gone SMOKE FREE. This may include the beach areas too. Be sure and ask before you light up in the city limits. Many of the restaurants are scrambling to build outside decks for summer and fall dining, which will be nice! Outback and Carrabbas seat outdoor smokers during the summer now, and Damon's Ribs has an enclosed deck for smokers. If you are a smoker, try to patronize these places and thank them for catering to your needs!
